Expert: Entertainment, telecom firms face most DDoS attacks in 2020

MOSCOW, Dec 23 (PRIME) -- Most of DDoS attacks in Russia have targeted the industries of entertainment, telecommunications, and e-commerce in 2020, company StormWall said on Wednesday in a research.

“Upon results of the study, the specialists learnt that the most attacked industries were entertainment with 40.76%, telecommunications with 29.27%, and online retail with 11.94%. During the year, such spheres were attacked as construction with 6.26%, finances with 4.56%, education with 3.61%, and services with 2.58%, and other with 1.02%,” the research read.

The number of attacks on the telecommunications sector increased 35% in 2020 because of a massive transfer to remote work.

The gaming sector is traditionally preferred by hackers as they can get profit by blackmailing owners of entertainment resources.
